Obesity treatment is based on a behavior modification program which develops an individualized diet and combined with physical exercise. With all this negative energy balance is achieved, then the calories you have consumed throughout the day beyond those that have been entered.

 

During the dietary treatment should modify the wrong food habits and establish new ones to achieve healthier to maintain weight loss long term. A common mistake is to follow fad diets that severely limit the intake of calories and little variety of foods as they are difficult to maintain over time and involve nutritional deficiencies. Besides these diets do not teach correct eating habits and can not be maintained over time, as a result, fat is usually sharply.

If you have diabetes, you know how challenging it can be to manage your disease. Healthy eating, physical activity, monitoring your condition, taking medication and reducing risks to your health are probably part of your daily routine.

Food provides the energy and nutrients it needs to be healthy. Among the nutrients proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and water are included.

Learning to eat nutritiously is not hard. The keys are:

 

Eating a variety of foods, including vegetables, fruits and whole grain products

Eat lean meats, poultry, fish, peas and low-fat dairy products

Drink plenty of water

Eat moderately salt, sugar, alcohol, saturated fats and trans fats

Saturated fats usually come from animals. Search trans labels of processed foods, fat margarines and shortenings.

The goal as a diabetes education is to help people with diabetes practice these behaviors every day. This can be difficult but it does work, by helping lower blood sugar (glucose), blood pressure and cholesterol. Most people with diabetes know self-management is important, but many find it overwhelming. Diabetes education helps by designing a specific plan for each person that includes the tools and support to help make the plan easy to follow.
